The Wildlife and Natural Environment (Scotland) Act has placed an obligation on ALL who have deer on their ground to manage them responsibly.
LDNS membership is for:
- Low ground deer management practitioners (sportsmen, stalkers, rangers) who often work individually, or in small groups.
- Landowners and farmers, particularly those who delegate their deer management to others to undertake.
- Low ground deer management groups. These have an important role where there is an identifiable common interest. LDNS is keen to encourage the formation of more groups based on existing models and good practice.
- Organisations with an interest in deer management and deer welfare including local authorities. Most relevant organisations were involved in setting up LDNS and are represented on its Executive Committee. The effectiveness of LDNS requires all these bodies to work together.
